New CATIA V5 to Windchill ProductView Translator Brings Full Functionality Benefits to OEMS and Supply Partners
A CATIA V5 adapter for PTC's Windchill ProductView visualization application is the latest addition to the range of best-in-class CAD/CAM data translators from Theorem Solutions.
The new adapter is believed to be the first on the market to cater for OEMs and supply chain partners needing to bring CATIA V5 assemblies and models into PTC's ProductView digital mock-up visualization and interrogation application. It provides a fast and effective method of translating CATIA V5 assemblies, parts and drawings into the PTC ProductView format, while maintaining full application functionality. As a result, important and productive ProductView features such as sectioning, clash detection and BREP geometry verification are all supported.
The new translator's comprehensive capabilities are underlined by its integration compliance with PTC's Windchill data management application. Availability of Windchill is not a pre-requisite, as Theorem's new ProductView CATIA V5 Adapter will operate completely independently of the PTC PDM system. However, Windchill users can gain additional benefits by simply configuring the translator as a 'Windchill Worker'; bringing the creation and distribution of visualization files totally under the control of the data management system.
The new adapter also incorporates Theorem's recently-launched '2 in 1' CATIA V5 capability. This enables CATIA V5 assembly (.CATProduct) files containing components in both native CATIA V5 and CATIA V4 formats (.CATPart & .model) files to be processed together. The software automatically identifies the data type of the required parts and applies the correct translation process without any input from the operator.
Theorem's CATIA V5 to ProductView translator is available for Windows or Unix-based environments and will also output visualization files on demand for PTC's DIVISION Mockup application, simply by selection of the required format.
Announcing the new product's availability, Theorem's General Manager Keith Jeacock said: "PLM is becoming a reality, with many engineering organisations requiring seamless, enterprise-wide distribution and visualization of CAD data across a variety of vendors' systems. There are also increasing demands for suppliers to make product data available in a format that that can be integrated immediately into their customer's digital mock-up system."
